Stuff

So what the hell, I will just say it, this month has been a mixed bag.
We had to say goodbye to the old girl. Life won't be the same without her.
It might be a while before I can commit to another animal.

Then we spent a glorious, child free long weekend hanging out in a really nice hotel in Florida where it was WARM. Coming back to 30 degree mornings was a severe bummer. Never mind that we had to listen to Kentucky take down the Heels on the car radio. And yet the fact that we played one more game than Dook does makes it a lot better.

That, and the article in GQ listing Dookies among the top 10 most obnoxious fan base. You think?

Basketball digression aside and back to Amelia Island, my married with no children friend bought Louboutin pumps for the ocassion. Her husband had no idea why she wanted him to take a picture of the bottom of her shoes. Funny!

And then other old girl dies and a bunch of other people. For Japan, there are no words.

And all I really personally want at the moment is for my front yard to look like this. I mean, back to me.

Or this

Got somebody working on it because all I do is work and go to soccer practice. When I am not at soccer practice my husband is at baseball practice. The teenager is getting real cheeky here lately so it is a good thing we got away for a bit not to mention that a girl could get used to this.

And this (notice how I put the dessert first. At least I still have my priorities straight).

My friend James took these pictures and sent them out to me because, no I did not take a single picture. I was too busy drinking strawberry mojitos and otherwise doing nothing! The pictures actually make me giggle and ask anyone, I don't usually do that sort of thing. I think he labeled everything because either he was concerned that certain members of our party would not remember because of all the mojitos or maybe he was just being really sweet and keeping it simple for the scrapbook.
But I can't lie, I wish I was in a car heading back up this driveway.

Real life sucks sometimes but don't worry, I am also currently working on my attitude adjustment. I know I am blessed. It just hasn't felt like it every second of the day here lately.

See, not too drunk to remember the courses of our meal, but either I need to get some sun or Jack needs to wear more sunscreen when he plays tennis. I do take it as a good sign that this one does not have a label. Things are looking up already.

March Madness

This phrase has many meanings at the moment but mainly it means basketball. As I write, Tar Heels had another buzzer beater win in the ACC Tournament today against Miami. They played really badly until they didn't and squeaked out a win: 61-59
I am trying to think of a nickname for these fellows that incorporates heart attack. It will come.
I am headed to Chapel Thrill in the morning until Sunday.
I will be mostly MIA during the month. I might as well be a guy in March.
Plus my dog is worse and Jack and I are going to Amelia Island the last weekend. Work is busy and I am trying to get back in good shape.

My friend and work wife, Lindsey sent me an email of these chairs from Restoration Hardware. She called them crazy. LOVE. What about you?
They are reproductions and can be upholstered in various fabrics and leathers.

This just looks too cozy. If I have time this weekend I will go to Southpoint in Durham and sit in one.

I love this. I don't know why. I don't think my husband would allow this in the house but I would like to put this in a room that otherwise looks more like this, just because.

Or maybe a little desk version would be just right.

Okay, that is all for now. Someone posted this on their blog the day after the Oscars and I am just living on the fly and I can't remember who it was but I loved it and saved it.

And one more thing to share. I bought this bathing suit online from Anthropologie and it is perfect. Buy one. It is completely worth every cent if you are into the boy cut and the vintage look. It fits like a dream and I HATE bathing suits. I fully expected to have to send it back. I might buy one in every color.

I am short and curvy so I think it would look good on any frame. Really. Just about anyone can pull this off. It is a very nice fit, not tight around the legs, perfect lift up top. J'adore.
Comes in this

And this

I will be taking a break and will be back later. Too much life bursting into bloom. Peace.

New Blog

Okay I really take no pleasure in the train wreck called Charlie Sheen but The Family Circus finally makes sense. Thanks to my pal Norn for telling me about it.

Spruce, House of Pemberley and Circa Who

Spruce is a place I have been in love with for a while. No online presence unfortunately but here are a few choice things I have purchased over the years, some from the previous incarnation, Fetch. Hillsborough, NC

I love this bench. It was in the playroom of our old house and now it is on the front porch. My husband picked out and sewed together two cushions for the seat. I heart this so very much. It is handmade by a reclusive artist in the Triangle somewhere. Karen, the owner knows how to find things. I will be there mid-March with my camera and will do a whole post of my fav post local shop.

Painting on old wood panel by another local artist in Hillsborough. Love this piece. I watched it for months before I got worried that someone would buy it and I would regret my life. It is now over the front door. In the old house it was in the kitchen.

Old book shelf, now holding CDs galore. I like how rustic it is and feel like I need to work on it but it is one of things that will just have to wait.

Frog lamp that I still have no shade for. Thinking about getting a plain one and doing this project that I learned about via Blue Hydrangea. Sissy rocks.

Next up my latest find from the old Home State, Sweet Home Alabama via eBay, House of Pemberley. They are out of Mobile and do have a website. Here are some chairs for sale or that they have sold and they are all tres reasonable. I might have to make a road trip on my way to Circa Who. Did a mention that a friend just moved to West Palm Beach? I love excuses and mixing pleasure and pleasure. Miss you Sweet Caroline but I'll be there!

The pair currently going for 299.00 on eBay or Buy it Now 399.00

199.00

My absolute favorite - Hollywood Regency Drexel Fretwork. $399.00
As they point out, there are two of these type chairs for sale on 1stdibs for $1200. Love the black paint and the fabric.

Love the Ikat fabric. They clearly do beautiful work and are not trying to break the bank. Something all three of these places have in common (well Circa Who can be pricey and you definitely have to drive there and load up because the shipping is crazy).
House of Pemberley is the only one with FREE SHIPPING!
For that it is at least worth a permanent bookmark.

229.00

229.00

These are chairs they have sold recently but they are worth seeing.

Also unstyled items

Then there is always, always Circa Who. For you, I drool over certain things.
I love you true. circawho.com

I need a chair but not like these. I just love chairs.

I am in the market for a settee or a small couch but both of these are sold.

I also need one side table in the living room but I am not sure what I want. I do like these. I would paint them a different color.

And while I don't exactly need these, I could get rid of something to incorporate these. Maybe in my bedroom. I love them.

And I don't know exactly what it is about Buddha but I have been keeping my eye on this lamp for a few months. It makes me happy just looking at it.

And these are nice

Kind of digging the brass bar cart

This aluminum saw horse desk reminds me of one my mom has in Herr bedroom.

And I gotta say for 550, this cabinet is pretty cool. I could see this in a man cave somewhere, cigars flowing.

I guess I am a little more Hollywood Regency than I give myself credit for. Look at all that bling but then compare it to the things I actually own!
